Malaysia perlu 50 peratus tenaga mahir

Soft Skills Essential For Success In Today’s Workplace

The educational system in Malaysia has been always somewhat skewered towards academic excellence. Nowadays, however, having straight “ As” is no longer enough to help secure a job or give one a competitive lead in career advancement.

What carries more weight appears to be SOFT SKILLS rather than brainpower or technical skills.' Hard skills’ refer to academic and technical knowledge. ‘SOFT SKILLS ‘are generally categorized into three areas – character, interpersonal skills and critical and creative thinking –all of which are required to survive and succeed in the workplace.
Soft Skills are different from academic knowledge .They cannot be ingrained in an individual by rote learning because it involves application in many different scenarios. SOFT SKILLS or personal development programmes might therefore be more effective if implemented throughout an extended duration and especially from young. An educational curriculum that encourages and incorporates more social interaction among students would develop a well rounded person.
